Show at brands of luxury: New Baroque

A couple of months ago I was given the opportunity to exhibit my work at Brands of Luxury in Stockholm. It had been a long time since my last gallery show so I jumped at the opportunity. I had no idea what I was going to show, but I desperately wanted to make some new work. It was very short notice, but I booked the venue and started telling everybody that I was going to have a show in a few weeks. That really works as a great motivator...!

I decided to revisit a theme that has always fascinated me: How the art of painting has evolved over time. The work reflects meetings between classic baroque painting and contemporary art movements, such as expressionism, abstract expressionism and art brut. The goal was to combine my many influences, but the starting point was reinterpreting several of my favorite paintings by baroque artist Peter Paul Rubens.

All the work in this series was digitally painted on an iPad Pro, and printed on fine art paper. Size 60x80cm. Signed by the artist and printed limited  in editions. (See some video at the end of the post) Prints of all the pieces are available in my shop.

Thanks to everyone who came by, It really was a great time for me!
